Blogs and Wikis are similar because the give us information we are interested in. Both are very useful when it comes to research and gaining a deeper understanding on an article or topic. One can say you need both to help understand subjects and ideas that are big topics in the world. They provide links to other articles for further study.
Unless the Author is breaking a story, which is rare, the subject has been written about already. A fresh take on an article is the purpose of the post. Your blogger will paint a picture for you through the post. You are on single engine airplane that takes a tour of the countryside, The Blogger shows you what they think beautiful in the adventure, or just ordinary. This is a one person’s position through experience or opinion on what he is writing about.
Wiki, like blogs, can be used for many things such as learning, entertainment and business. The beauty of collaboration is that everyone can contribute. Marvel wiki is a perfect example of an entertainment wiki where you can find links to pages that go in depth with your favorite Superhero. The collaboration comes from fans and writers of the famed comics. It is an open book for the masses to detail what is happening, past or present for future readers and researchers. It can be used to state business policies and a handbook for training. During training seminar's something is always missed, we are human. With a wiki new employee page, a company can enter data, organize codes of conduct, and post links for situations an employee might encounter on the job.
Blogs are meant to start the conversation, inspire people to think outside the box. Blogs are a voice for everyone who feels they need to be heard, whether it’s an underpaid journalist, sports fanatic or regular joe who just likes watching funny movies on T.V. I have only touched on what Blogs and Wiki can do in this post. They have the potential to do so much more. The ideas, new spins on blogs and wikis are out there, waiting to become the next evolution in communication. A Wiki baby shower last minute get togethers, collaborative list duties that can be adjusted in real time, come to mind when I think of the future.
